Art inspired by the outdoors.
It’s official – I’ll be back this year for my third time judging the amazing films of the Eerie Horror Fest!
I have loved doing this work for the last two years; I am always blown away with the creativity and talent of all the artists who submit their works to this film festival.
Speaking of artists, Mark R. Kosobucki crushed it yet again this year with the festival poster!
I have been so restless since getting home from Canada, so instead of binging yet another series, I decided to work on my house. (Don’t worry, Stranger Things – I’m coming for you when the weather gets cold!)
I had the perfect space above my fireplace to create a mosaic in my home, just like the ones I saw in Jordan.
I’m so glad I searched high and low for white grout – I think it really makes the glass pop. And honestly, I feel like it looks so perfect here – as if it’s always been in my home. <3
I loved how different Vancouver was from PA, and yet there was something similar in spirit: being near the water, so many huge pines overhead, and even seeing snow in August.
I was not prepared for the food and coffee game there to be so strong, I loved the indigenous art, and as always – I was inspired by everything.
How has it been five months since I’ve moved into my new place? I was right – it was building a LOT of furniture and a LOT of unpacking, but it’s all coming together.
I took a break from settling in to go on an incredible trip for a friend’s 40th birthday.
Travel is such a huge part of my life, and I’ve been so lucky to go all kinds of amazing places in my life so far. I loved the food, the sights, and I was so inspired in both places for all things art. Plus, there were LOTS of good kitties.
It’s official – I have a new house! I’m thrilled to be going back to Pittsburgh and enjoying all of the things the city has to offer, both for me personally (I’ve missed my friends), and as an artist (hellllo, new art classes!).
Life has already been crazy as I work to pack up my life and the pup, move all of my things into the new place, and, ahem, build SO much furniture. It’s a lot, but building things from scratch is going to be so satisfying.
I’m not sure how much art I’ll be making while I get settled in, but I’m already completely in love with the shade of my office/studio. Purple’s always been my favorite color, so I think this will make for a super-relaxing space. Archie likes it here, too!
I’ve been working on a few new things this week and I I’m really digging these bookmarks! They’re spooky, fun, and best of all – they glow in the dark.
I was soooo guilty of reading after bedtime as a kid, so the glow aspect reminds me of those days with just a chapter book and a flashlight under the covers!
I’m still working away on my pastel goth Halloween line for Forest and Facet, and I’m really happy with how things are turning out. I made a pair of earrings for my best friend, who requested “Haunted Mansion” colors for hers. I can’t wait for her to wear them when she goes to Disney next month!
It’s happened – it’s barely July and I’m getting excited for Halloween. It may seem early, but I can’t help it – I see pumpkins and bats right now, and my brain starts making the happy chemicals. 🤷🏻♀️
I’ve already bought a few new Halloween decorations, but more importantly, I’ve been working on my Halloween line for Forest and Facet.
I’ve been loving the pastel goth look for the past two years, and wanted to use some colors and shapes that are spooky season-focused, but also can be worn year-round.
I’m still working on a gemstone design for this season, as well as all my All Hallow’s resin goodies, so stay tuned, all you cool creeps and cryptids!
So excited to announce that I am a judge for the Eerie Horror Festival!
Waaay back in 2008, I was so proud to be a selected filmmaker for the festival as an entrant, and I cannot wait to dig in and get started with reviewing film entries from filmmakers all over the world.
I am hoping for lots of comedic horror, heart, and story-telling from these pieces and know I’ll have a blast reviewing everything.
What’s YOUR favorite scary movie?
